They report that most properties are receiving multiple offers which allows a seller to enjoy potential owners paying more than the asking price. We don't often hear of sellers receiving more money for a house than the list price, so this phenomena is great for sellers.

The Calgary Real Estate Board reports that last year 10% of properties sold for more than the asking price and this year the percentage is almost 25%. They report the driving factor is a shortage of single family homes for sale. If you own a single family home and are ready to sell, this news means your house needs to go on the market now.

CBC News also reports that with the city's effort to curb urban sprawl, home prices are going up. As long as the city is curbing urban sprawl, your home will continue to be in demand.
